Texas A&M needs to win by at least 17 points to cover the spread. The Aggies are priced at -120 on that bet, so a $120 stake would return $100 in profit if they cover. Kentucky’s +16.5 is priced at -111.

The total of 50.5 sits below the 62 points scored in Kentucky’s last game and the 68 in Texas A&M’s. Those final scores need context, however. The Aggies scored twice on interception returns in the fourth quarter, production that should not simply be added to an offensive projection for this week.

I’m picking Texas A&M to cover -16.5 because Kentucky has struggled to extend drives. The Wildcats went 1-for-14 on third down against Alabama and are 4-for-22 through two games. Repeated short possessions would leave their defense with little rest against an Aggies team playing at home.

The Wildcats managed just 62 yards after halftime against Alabama. They finished with 209 total yards, including 146 through the air from Kenny Minchey and 63 rushing yards as a team. Once Alabama took away their early success, Kentucky could not find another reliable way to move the ball.
